Training Surfers in May, 2026
May was a busy month for training surfers in a face-to-face manner, rather than online. Firstly there was Ruby Berry [a Western Australian surfer who I have coached for the past 6 years]. Ruby is an outstanding talent, and came and trained for 5 days at the same time as the Corona Pro on the Gold Coast. Check out Ruby here.
Next was Imari Hearn from Bali, now going to school on the Gold Coast. Like Ruby, she is a member of the O’neill team and surfs for the England junior team. Check out Imari here
New surfers for training, Siblings Luca and Milly Waddell from Western Australia came along for a coaching session, along with Coco Woolley from the Forster area of the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Saxon from the Wollongong area came back for some a training top-up and he brought along Lennox Lindsay, a ripper from the same area.
At the end of the month I did a training day with the grommets from Kingscliff Boardriders club. Up and coming ripper – Dane Henry – also came along to add his take on how surfers can be developed.
Besides the face-to-face training, I also reviewed 6-8 video performances from surfers from around the globe. We metup via zoom and reviewed and discussed their performances and provided training guidance in how they could surf better.
And to top it all off, I continued to fine tune my soon to be released mobile app – “Surf Reader”. An app to teach surfers how to read the surf before surfing or competing.
